I'm a massive fan of stealth games. There is nothing better than dropping from the ceiling, taking out a guard, and vanishing back into the shadows before anyone knows what happened. Shadow Ninja 7D tries to capture that magic in a browser format, and honestly? It succeeds way more than it has any right to.
I started playing thinking I could just hack and slash my way through the levels. Yeah, that lasted about two minutes. The enemies hit hard, and if you get surrounded, you're toast. This game forces you to actually act like a ninja.

I spent way too much time planning these elaborate, choreographed takedowns, only to mess up the timing on the very first jump and trigger the alarm. It's frustrating, but it's the good kind of frustrating that makes you want to try again immediately.
The Grappling Hook is Everything

It's snappy, it's fast, and it gives you so much verticality. Being able to zip out of danger, hang upside down, and drop onto an unsuspecting target makes you feel incredibly cool. It turns the levels into these vertical puzzles. I found myself completely ignoring the ground floor, just playing the floor-is-lava while taking out guards one by one from above.

How to Actually Be a Ninja
If you keep alerting the whole map, try adopting these habits:
1. Stay high. Enemies rarely look up. The rafters and rooftops are your best friends. Only drop down when you're going for a kill.
2. Use distractions. Don't forget you have throwing stars. You can throw them at walls to create a noise and pull guards away from each other. Divide and conquer is the name of the game.
3. Don't get greedy. If you kill a guy and his buddy turns around, don't try to fight. Use your grapple to escape and reset. A living coward is better than a dead hero.
